Azerbaijan Independence Day

Today we celebrate the 29th Anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The path to freedom and independency was not an easy one, and our country went through many challenges. Most significantly, 1988-1994 with the ethnic cleansing of Azerbaijanis from our ancestral land of Karabakh by our neighboring country of Armenia which resulted in 1 million refugees and internally displaced people and almost 30 years of occupation of Karabakh. Today we celebrate this day with pride and hope for the brighter future for our nation and our region. We want peace and return IDPs to their land.
